  Meet Max: our space-communist revolutionary.
  The film that opened my eyes to science fiction as an effective social critique, I rewatched it after years and it’s only gotten better. The effects are astounding, the story is poignant, the characters are effective (albeit the weakest part of this story imo).
  A damn near perfect movie that I will never understand getting panned this hard.

  Still rocks just as hard. Made even better by trying to take my neighbors to go see it in the theater for the 20th anniversary and them hating it so much for comically moralistic reasons that they somehow wound back around into suggesting that liking a movie with reprehensible characters is somehow and endorsement of those characters. Crazy what we have done to our brains.
