In parts, it was very ‘samey’ - but I’m guessing that the books were. I did still ugly cry, & left the cinema a total mess (hoody pulled up, beanie pulled down). For me, it was more about navigating grief (I’m still trying & failing after over 30 years). Casper Knopf (Billy Jones-Darcy) is a phenomenal young actor. All of the emotions of a grieving child were portrayed with absolute perfection.

Powerful. The language and opinions is almost defamatory, and there are strong political and religious opinions, and a misconception of what women can do/think - it was very much ‘of the time’, though. Once you get passed the soft-p*rn and dig deeper in to the story & dynamics, a story of how s*x can be used as a weapon. When a person seemingly has it all, but wants more. How a person can seek danger/their entire world imploding. How it s*x can be used as a method of s*lf-harm. Didn’t enjoy the film much, but the soundtrack was good - well, two of the songs!

I cried all the tears! Lots of laughs in there, too. NOT the inspirational porn that I feared it would be, nor was it cringe. Even though I have a congenital disability, I could really relate to it. The dynamics in the family, dad who is mostly absent as that’s his way of coping, the arguments & self-blame - all so relatable.
