This movie delivers on what you want it to and need it to. I don’t give 5 stars unless it’s a masterpiece, but it’s tough to see a movie have such a widespread impact on global culture and say it is anything less. It revived songs that the public hasn’t listened to since the earlier 2000s and even earlier. It was funny, and ultimately may have revived Marvel from its woke lull and mediocrity. Ok. This movie has huge shoes to fill. Is that fair? Yes and no. Does it live up to what you want it to? Partially. Gladiator for me is top 5, and this movie is not. But it’s potentially top 25 and that’s pretty great. Really as soon as you stop comparing it to the original it’s a great movie in its own right, and the only thing lacking is the score. Excellent movie with a masterful score by Ennio Morricone. Gripping. Sensational. Riveting. A true masterpiece of not only its time, but of cinema. There wasn’t a moment where I was disinterested, and the score produces chills throughout. An iconic film that will never be the same after seeing it once. It’s a true experience that will keep you in the edge of your seat for a good amount of the time and is best seen with a male audience. The perfect blend of war, glory, battle, western and suspense. A must see.
