The Passion of Joan of Arc 1928
this might be the best movie out of the 1920s.
much has already been said about Renee’s performance; her unsettling stares, her emotions, and the despair she displayed on her face.
but one thing i have to praise this movie for, is for its beauty. its stunning shots and composition, and its editing for the time. i can’t put to words how beautiful this movie is. every frame is worth hanging in a museum somewhere. it’s worth to take in its beauty minute by minute, second by second.
