    Fantasy A Gets a Mattress

Move over Ken, it's time for the Ramojo Dojo Casa House of Seattle Beds in Fantasy A's sundrenched & sweaty Seattle fighting tooth & nail to hang on & get a good night's rest despite Bezos, the Seattle Times Editorial Board, & every resident of Magnolia.

Love to the CID, to the eternal question of what is happening with this bus, to Chop Suey, to lonely overpasses, to the clanging of the streetcar, to the long lost fame of the Seattle Weekly cover.

Take that, OneSeattle. You won't live past this administration, but local film & Fantasy A will live forever.

This recently snuck onto Hulu, which is great. I missed it in theaters, but really for the best for me to be on the edge of tears for two hours at home rather than in public amirite.

A little too on-the-nose for me by the end, but who cares when characters are this strong. Terrific work all around, but especially Keith Kupferer, just so natural all the way through, like they'd just happened upon this dude processing his life.

If you won't go to therapy you gotta do a play, I don't make the rules (or go to therapy, for that matter.)

Listen, I had been prepared for the T4T situation here, but no one had prepared me for the Tom of Finland-coded Farmer Jim.

Thrilled to see this with a decent crowd - one of the largest I've seen at a non-Chinese movie since theaters reopened - and a special shout-out to all the parents who also lost it at Bryan Adams. Especially fun to see references like Modern Times and Dumbo so soon after they showed up in The Magic Flute.

What is gayer than processing a relationship before you're even in it.

(I too would spend a party talking to the dog.)

    The Christmas Setup

Me all through this movie: OH NO I LOVE IT

All of these movies do the hard sell on the benefits of a hometown life, but I love the new angle on that here, where queer culture and queer history are reasons to stay in your hometown and not things you’re looking for when you leave it.

PS Fran Drescher saying "HELLO I AM A LIBRARIAN" was the Christmas gift I didn’t know I needed, & a character singing Judy at the pop-up drag bar is gayer than anything that happened in Happiest Season.
