  Upon hearing the score I immediately knew I was in for something truly beautiful. This film really gives meaning to the phrase “eyes are the windows to the soul.” So much was conveyed through gestures, expressions, and of course, the directing.  Thinking back I almost forget that this is a silent film and I have the urge to watch this again. Plenty has been said about this masterpiece so all I know is that I need to seek out the Criterion version and watch it plenty times more.
