This movie is one of a kind. I’ve seen it seven or eight times and it still blows me away. Neon, rain, reflective surfaces. Ambient synth and eerie sound design. Everything comes together to create an atmosphere that’s been imitated but never recaptured.

This movie was emotionally affecting in way that’s hard to pin down.
Much of it comes from the care taken to accurately capture the body language of each animal (particularly the cat). It makes the fantasy feel very real. The camera work is also excellent in ways you don’t always see with computer animation. It’s hard to describe but definitely worth the watch.
I know I should separate this from the book, but I can't. This is 4.5 star movie but 3 star Dune adaptation.
Its strengths are everything related to movie making. The shots are beautifully composed, the sound design is phenomenal, the performances are by-and-large great, when they're not let down by the writing.
