It's a sensual, gripping, breathing depiction of a humid Floridian experience that highlights the honest beauty and pain of an upbringing such as this one. The direction was perfect, the screenplay satisfyingly breathes each scene in and out and through itself. The world through the child's eyes has, in my film consuming experience, rarely been as accurately done in such a way that highlights the confusion, pain, joy, dedication, understanding, and earnesty of their young perceptions.

It's kind of try-hard weird. Does my visceral aversion to it signify that it is good in a way? It dragged my already strong disliking for suburbia out of my guts and held it whimpering by the neck in front of my face. It's now sustainably altered my ability to even kind of tolerate it. Now, I just think of the demon lizard/like/money-showing barking little demon child. Jesse delivered roughly the same performance as he does in arguably every thing he's in. Feels a little anticlimactic. AGAIN, IS THAT THE POINT?
The plot's sort of shallow. I think it loses itself at the end.

Probably my new personal favorite as far as historical works. The plot respects its viewers time with intentional pacing and diologue. Numerous meaty and heavy events were efficiently communicated through its figures. I appreciate the blend of literal historical events with the poetic imaginings of crucial elements. It was more digestible than Free State of Jones due to its more-succinct flow. The science establishings were also respectful of the viewer's time and creatively woven in. The science was overall good. UNLIKE Scott's Napolean,…

Decently captivating gradual intensity, with intention that is quite pleasing that is then lost to a rushed ending. It hits the spot for horror fans in the initial plotbuild but is, in my opinion, sort of the epitome of anticlimactic. Reminiscent of the hopeful, peculiar-backgrounded-drama-driven storyline's of The Walking Dead or 10 Cloverfield Lane that are lost at a certain point due to what I think is a lazy (rushed wrap it up in a bow hurry ! quickly !) writing. I find the plot a little silly, but curious in the moment.
