The Substance 2024
If Cronenberg's the Fly and the Lynch's Elephant had a child, I think the Substance would be a great contender. While the film's bold approach and thematic ambition are commendable, its heavy-handedness and burlesque tone threw me off at times. Despite this, it stands out as one of the best body horror films in recent years. It leaves you questioning the extremes one would go to recapture the feeling of unconditional love.
