Hmm yeah, idk. This didn't really do it for me. There are definitely some nice visual elements; long lingering camera shots, sometimes evoking boredom, other times a sense of immersion, capturing the quiet melancholy moments on a vacation.
As the film progresses, we catch glimpses of cracks in the father, Calum; thematically, the idea that our parents are also human, imperfect, or even struggling is shown in a visceral, visual way.

Dune 2021
The beginning of the movie was great. Amazing cinematography and immersive setup. Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for in a sci-fi movie. But the 2nd half fell short, felt drawn out and simplistic. Not much happens, and there is no character development either. Beautiful colors and cinematography, but empty mind, no thoughts. Glad I watched it in theaters for the visual experience. I probably would have gotten a lot more out of it if I read Dune before, so YMMV.
