    Summer of 84

    ★★★★

Summer of 84, a 2018 horror film starring Graham Verchere, Caleb Emery and Judah Lewis, masterfully captures the essence of 80s nostalgia. The film's atmosphere is so authentic, it genuinely feels like it could have been produced during that era. A significant contributor to this is the top-notch synthwave soundtrack, which perfectly complements the visuals. And let's not forget Davey's undeniably cool bike, a true symbol of 80s youth.

    ★★★★½

Anora is a 2024 Drama/Romance film directed by Sean Baker and starring Mikey Madison and Yura Borisov.

This is the best film of 2024 and my favorite Sean Baker work. Stunning performances, especially by Mikey Madison. Beautiful cinematography, lighting and composition. Technically very competent with lots of soul. The frantic pace of the last two-thirds of the film reminded me of Uncut Gems.

However, it didn't resonate with me.

Don't get me wrong, the acting was great (I still can't believe Demi Moore agreed to take on…

    Alien: Romulus

    ★★★½

The Alien Romulus Trailer left a sour taste in my mouth. It looked like the movie was going to be a generic Slasher in which the only Alien element was the Xenomorph.

I went to see Alien Romulus yesterday and fortunately, it's much better than the Trailer gave us to expect...

    Spoilers below...

It's a very entertaining and technically competent film. However, it's not very original and has too much fan service for my tastes:
