Barbarian is one of the few horror movies that you can watch the trailer for and not have the entire plot spoiled, which I appreciate. An unsettling storyline and above-average acting for a low-budget horror flick make this a pretty solid watch. I wasn’t as scared as I wanted to be, and that’s a shame, because isn’t that the point of watching a scary movie in the first place?

Gladiator 2000
Gladiator is fun, epic, and surprisingly unpredictable. Russell Crowe gives one of the most iconic performances you’ll see and Ridley Scott is at the peak of his powers on the director’s helm. The actual gladiator scenes left a little to be desired and the ending is anticlimactic, but you still won’t find many revenge epics as satisfying as this one.

Spider-Man 2 2004
As superhero movie sequels go, this is the cream of the crop. Killer villain, convincing subplots, and a little bit of romance, there’s a reason why Spider-Man 2 is so revered. Tobey Maguire is still the best Spidey, hands down. Unpopular opinion: James Franco’s Harry Osborne is an underdeveloped and unlikable character, and I cringed whenever he was on-screen.

Oppenheimer 2023
Of all Christopher Nolan’s work, Oppenheimer is the most engrossing. I have never seen a movie that was almost entirely dialogue capture my attention so effortlessly. The third act as a stand-alone film would be Oscar worthy. This is a must-watch for everyone and one of my favorite films…ever.
