The Mitchells vs. the Machines 2021
Absolutely joyous film! I got that same feeling of complete euphoria that I experience with Into The Spider-verse, which is no mean feat to achieve. Smiled like a goon for the whole film, laughed at every joke and teared up a little in all the right places. So far it’s genuinely my film of the year and I wouldn’t be surprised if it still was come December.

Army of the Dead 2021
Ar(meh) of the Dead amiright!? It was fine. I found it on par with most of his films, which is to say it served as a series of visually pleasing vignettes strung together by a flimsy story with predictable archetypal characters. That’s not to say I didn’t like the characters or engage with them. It just didn’t grab me or do anything that hasn’t been done in a thousand other zombie films, one of which of course being snyder’s comparatively much better Dawn of the Dead.
