I really enjoy this movie but it feels like there’s something missing. I feel like I should care more or I should be more terrified. I can’t put my finger on it but there is something that is not satisfying to me about this mystery

Honestly I liked the songs, Zoe Saldana’s performance, and some of the cinematography. BUT, the plot is really misguided and feels like it is all over the place in what it is trying to say. I feel like it is also a bit offensive and feels like it is using transness and the Mexico setting as ornamentation. It getting so many Oscar nominations is puzzling to me. Best picture this is not. On every message/theme it tries to explore it only goes halfway. In a few ways I’m impressed but I am mostly disappointed.

This movie was such a beautiful adventure. Well shot, laugh out loud funny, amazing performances across the board, an amazing ending, really what more could you ask for from this movie. Mikey Madison was absolutely electric the whole movie really an enchanting performance. This could be my favorite movie this year
