I like this movie for the most part. I think the acting is good, the set design (especially for 60’s London) is really well done. The story they are telling tries to be feminist, but misses the mark in multiple points. Ellie’s motivations are odd, but if you squint, they’re believable enough. Wish there was more of Sandie’s story before it got so dark and the film lost its style to cgi ghosts in the end.

Watching this again in 2024 is a whole new vibe compared to when it came out in 2012. Mental health is not as awkward of a subject and a bit less stigmatized. The mental illnesses depicted are very common (bipolar disorder, bpd, ocd) but I think in 2012 people were only familiar with how Hollywood portrayed them.
