Uses stylistic flair concomitant of 1970s late-night television. Indeed, it meticulously replicates the faded comfort and analog textures of the era’s TV studios—from soft-focus cameras to the seemingly mundane kitschy set design and faux-casual conversations. Yet, this nostalgic familiarity becomes countered by the movie's supernatural exploration as the host steadily loses grip on his control.

Fight Club feels like a critque on consumerist culture, with the club's violence elaborated merely as concomitant of the commodification that it alleges to dismantle. The artifice and inimical gratification that arise from it prove that it is not so dissimilar from the IKEA-catalogue based sequences where Jack envisions this future self, enslaved to a state of improvement by the purchase of homely goods.
