This is my favorite movie about the mafia and 60s new york I’ve seen so far. The binary between colegio’s father and sunny was so interesting because of their views on life and how they impacted colegio. Both were extremely influential figures in his life and seeing how colegio took some things and left some things from both of them was very emotional.

this movie was interesting mainly because you can see wes anderson’s vision for his style later to come. because it wasn’t fully developed yet, it seemed draggy at points, but seeing his prominent movies first it makes it a lot more bearable.

If you don’t have experience in a true restaurant setting this movie will mean nothing to you. People may say it’s homophobic, misogynistic, and insensitive and that’s because it is, but that’s the point. I promise you that any restaurant that isn’t bougie or higher end has an identical dynamic to the one in this movie. There’s nothing that could’ve prepared me to work in a restaurant like that, but I’m all the better for it and it’s something everyone needs to experience.
