  Koji Yakusho's performance is truly EXCELLENT.
  That blood washed grin is SO conniving - a very convincing hardshell steel exterior that cracks repeatedly, revealing his soft marshmallow satiny heart.
  So relatable even if you're not involved in organised crime/have been convicted. Just pure delicate humanness.

  Despite the lack of dialogue so much was said. Perfectly encapsulates a universal feeling, 10 out of 10. 

  Particularly noticed themes of reflection and absorption, which were beautifully portrayed visually and emotionally through filtered light, the shadows and optimism sliced with the challenges of life.
  For me, the juxtaposition of light and dark implied the many facets of life, and Hirayama’s exclusive use of B&W film photography is what solidified that positive and negative symbolism.

  After that final scene, the icing on top was seeing 
  “Homeless” in the credits which has us hysterically vigorously laughing.
