The Apple 1980
A very politically confused movie. On one hand, it’s supposedly anti-fascist and anti-capitalist, but it also uses satanic panic about disco and the queer community in its… campy disco movie. It’s also a commentary about the Holocaust? Anyway, it ends up saying this strange message about how both hippies and totalitarian regimes are supposedly “counter-cultural.” Very odd, and also very bad!

Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 1978
What happens if I unironically enjoyed long stretches of this? What then?
It’s an absurdist and surrealist take on 80s commercialism with the Bees Gees in a band that quite literally ended WW1 with the power of song. They winked to the camera like four times. Those wacky guys knew what they were doing and did it.

They say that when you go to hell, you’re forced to watch ‘20s transitional sound films on repeat.
