Intuition. Consciousness. Ego. Dogma. All get locked into a room. A dog barks. A child is crying.  And the words will never be right.

Quantity, enormity, falsity that never suffices or yields to rightness. You can’t aim to create a new form and film theatrical stage plays. They require flesh and blood. These scenes are mangled between awful attempts at eye candy. Where a rich man spends his money as he wishes to escape his geriatric final moments. BUT if you drain the lake to find the fish. The arrow pecker and virgin pop star are lightning rod moments that are some of the best this year.

The grind. Shamelessly exposing hustle culture that leaves one utterly spent. Casted perfectly. Timothy Chalamet is turning in his sleep that he couldn’t play the wirey Peter Pan billionaire child. But Mickey carries it all. As much as it wants to leave a cold feeling, it can’t escape the filmmakers warmth and humor that makes it remarkably hopeful. That perhaps is the fatal flaw but it’s also what makes the film his best yet.

Left longing for more tennis and more tennis and more tennis and more tennis…

(Makes Gaspar Noe feel like child’s play)
