I thought I’d make more sense of it the second viewing, but I honestly forgot how insane this film is. Whilst Jessie and Kieran’s character dynamic was complex, nuanced and well performed, everything surrounding it felt extremely stale to me. The performances of the secondary characters and even the tour itself feels so rehearsed and surface level in contrast to the main characters. And maybe that’s the point? Regardless, the look and feel of a film has such an impact on how you experience it, and I think there’s something keeping me from any raw emotion I’m supposed to be feeling. Still good tho.
