As a journalist, it’s really special to see a movie focusing on journalists’ role in conflict for a change, especially the difficulty and greyness of being a neutral party in a situation where “neutral” practically can’t exist. Every war photographer I’ve met has gone through hell and back in a way that society often doesn’t fully acknowledge, so it’s nice to see a movie that does its best to do them justice.

Only an absolute lunatic would give a movie’s audience the entire first act, then proceed to have the entire second act be a flashback that totally recontextualizes everything you’ve seen up to that point.

I honestly don’t even know where to begin with Picnic at Hanging Rock. It’s one of the most intricate, symbolic, and bizarre films I have ever seen. Much like its central mystery, the film eludes explanation, representing a question that cannot and, I suppose, should not be answered.
