Didn’t even notice this was on here and watched it a minute ago, but still remember this one well enough to write a lil something something.
Fantastic start to the series, and the noir elements are sick as all get-out, but, as the mystery is uncovered, the conclusion left me feeling surprisingly unsatisfied. This one’ll be brief, just because I’d prefer to talk about this movie with other people in person than air out all the things I liked about it here.
High quality performances all around, a plot that’s been done before, but is done here with amazing effect, and an emotional end that ties it all together beautifully. A wonderfully endearing Holiday-timed movie with flawed and beautiful characters. This is the movie I thought Dead Poets Society was going to be when I finally got around to watching it. I want to hug every last one of the main three folks in the biggest way. So much heart, humor, and humanity in this film and I cannot recommend it enough. If you’re looking for a moving holiday movie to watch right now, it’s this one, this is the one you should look at.
