Late Night with the Devil 2023
Skinamarink found dead in a ditch. This is how analog horror should be, shits on the majority of the found footage medium too. Some really great craftsmanship put into getting that authentic 70s feel. Overall its a perfectly tense experience that delivers some legitimately great scares. Fucking great finale too.
Addressing the elephant in the room, those review bombing this because of the use of AI need to get a grip and pick their battles. AI in film is happening…

Insomnia 2002
I understand why Robin Williams is all over the marketing for this, but damn this could have been Spacey in Se7en level. Doesn’t take away from what is still a corker of a thriller. Williams steals the show with what little time he gets and Pacino gets progressively more Pacino as the long days wear on. Simply great stuff.
I’m now 12/12 on Nolan till the Odyssey rolls round. Imagine this being one of your lesser films? Dude is physically incapable of missing

A really well crafted film let down by a script that fails to fully grasp its ideas and tone. There’s some awesome little moments of filmmaking in this I loved, Kravitz certainly has the juice. Though this takes a dark turn that it doesn’t really deliver in the impactful way it should. The final 40 minutes are a slow slide into dissatisfaction, with a baffling ending to boot.
Greatest vape hit in movie history though.
