The Piano Teacher 2001
almost didn’t make it through this, probably wouldn’t have made it through sober tbh.
But it’s as unsettling as it is compelling with its themes of repression, power, and self-destruction.
Isabelle Huppert’s performance is, of course, extraordinary somehow portraying vulnerability, cruelty, coldness, and darkness.
It’s deeply uncomfortable yet impossible to look away from which leaves you feeling some kind of weird shame.
