For a college film class a few years ago, I've written about Playtime, pointing out how it criticizes the cold and distant modern life.
However on today's rewatch, I realized that it contradictally shows how fun this cold, modern city is. So much so, by the end of the movie I felt that it celebrated it.

I always enjoyed this movie for the dancing, and passion within Billy, but for some reason, this time I watched it through the dad's perspective, and oh dear... I cried throughout the whole thing.
I was so confused...why the heck did I like this movie so much?
I knew about the bad reviews AND I was ready to be disappointed, but instead I found myself really enjoying it. Why? Have I actually gone mad? (Mad... like the joker, baby 🤡)

Mon Oncle finds comedy/absurdity of the real world, collects it all, and presents it so beautifully to the audience.
The jokes emerge from the situation the characters, who each have different, recognizable personalities, create by acting according to their uniqueness. You can’t help but laugh, as the setup is slowly built and the payoff catches you off guard.
