The director John Hsu said he wanted this to be a mix of Monsters Inc. and Mean Girls. And that is very accurate.
Really funny with way more heart than I expected from a TIFF Midnight Madness selection.
If you miss good horror-comedies this is an example of it done very right.
And Gingle Wang is fantastic.

This movie starts off as a comedy.
Pansy is angry. She’s sick of everyone’s shit and she’s not afraid to tear them a new one. Showing them who’s boss. And her words are hilarious.
But then something happens.
All of a sudden her rants aren’t funny anymore. There’s a beautiful shift in this movie where once we’ve settled in, and we actually stop listening to the funny words she’s shouting at her husband or her 22 year old…
I’ve watched hundreds of horror movies in my life - but I have never once involuntarily yelled “NO DON’T!” until I watched this movie.
