Satire scary funny.
“She loves me too much” 💀
One of my favourite films that I’ve watched this year.
The ensemble cast shared themselves honestly within beautifully framed shots. Frames within frames and from an eye level that made you a voyeur in the film.
The simple story was told and enriched by the unique perspectives of the characters. It felt astonishingly real.
The themes as well resonated so hard. Growing up, growing old, growing on, and growing distant. The pains of these transitions were expressed with resilience and optimism, in spite of the inherent melancholy of it all.
I loved it.
Was generally entertaining and shot well. I loved the handheld shots. But overall felt formulaic A24 storytelling. Mid life crisis. Rave scene. Horny. Risque. And then there’s this championing of this young, sociopathic sigma male type. No shade to horny and kinky folks ofc. Sex is c00l and important.
