No one talks about how Kevin Smith definitely helped write this. But it’s also much better-written than every Kevin Smith movie* so that’s probably why.
Hadn’t watched this since high school and was mostly just astonished that a story so corny could be this effective between the literally unbelievable Matt and Ben script and the Matt and Robin performances. Extra star for the Elliott Smith of it all.
*Except maybe Mallrats. A perfect film.
If the reason Kevin Kline hasn’t been in anything in a while is that he’s happy chilling and doing voiceover work, I am happy for him, but if he wanted to stage a big Hollywood comeback I’ll be the first person in line.
Mia Farrow is acting her ass off and she is perfect. Fuck everyone else involved in this very, very good movie.
In the Wikipedia entry for this movie the entirety of the “Reception” section says, “Although poorly reviewed, The New York Times claimed the film included "a nasty caricature of Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington".
