I hesitate to describe Sorry to Bother You as "ahead of its time" because Boots Riley knew exactly what he was doing in and before 2018. And-- to say this holds up seven years later would be an understatement.

Almost everything about the 'true story' that inspired this one has been changed. Melodrama at every turn. Zero likable characters. The protagonist is entirely impossible to relate to, and despite the almost constant narration, Cage somehow made it watchable.
Doubling Bad Bunny's screen time wouldn't have made this movie perfect, but it would be a hell of a lot closer
This movie is one I'll go back to when I feel like something with strong character work, as I was pretty swept away by everyone's performances. Love it when capitalism is meant to be the true antagonist of a piece-- and when the narrative actually executes on that idea.
