I really liked this. A very entertaining B-movie with more than enough writing smarts to be interested in the mythos it's creating. Quaid and Thatcher are both excellent, and Rupert Friend has a brilliant unexpected cameo.
There's a scene near the end where two low-level techs from the company that made Iris talk about some of the truly dreadful things that other owners have done to their companions. This hints at at least two full sequels to this that I would line up for as soon as they're done.
Fun, well-crafted genre entertainment.

Nosferatu 2024
A stunning, disciplined example of expert genre filmmaking. I've liked a lot of Egger's previous films (particularly The Witch) but this completely entranced me. I'm a sucker for full-blown gothic and this delivers on that promise so completely that it eclipses my previous favourite - 'Bram Stoker's Dracula'. Lily-Rose Depp blows the doors off and absolutely should have been a contender for the Oscar. Nicholas Hoult is superb in a less showy role and the supporting characters were equally excellent…

Boring, predictable and about as scary as waiting for the bus. Full of fan-service moments that fall completely flat and the resurrection of a character using tech that doesn't seem to have been updated since Leia appeared at the end of 'Rogue One'. I had high hopes that Alvarez could inject new life into this but instead he's delivered a tired retread of much better earlier films. There were genuinely good ingredients here that have been stirred and reheated into a dispiriting mush. Don't bother.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga 2024
Not great. Some excellent action scenes but otherwise a tangled mess. Anya Taylor-Joy never seems in the running to become the Charlize version of the character. Way, way too long and Hemsworth seems to be in another much campier film. Some of the CGI was very ropey as well.
