A very good adaptation of the book. I wouldn't say it did it justice, but nontheless. They found a plot for a book that didn't have a plot and made it worked; kept the exentric humour and some of Souseki's philosophy (though I'd wish there's more of that). The world war one setting change would probably have worked better if one were to watch this in 1936.
