2001: A Space Odyssey 1968
Only qualms were the unnecessarily extended scenes especially in space. Wasn’t thrilled with the ending either, but I guess the ambiguity is part of the beauty. Overall, it’s insanely ahead of its time. Even scarier after having lived thru the rise of AI

“Duality of man” shows the horror of war coupled with the innocence of the kids sent to fight others’ battles. Two distinct chapters of the movie both offer different themes with the same conclusion: the hardening of a man’s soul. Priv Pyle, who was at first innocent, was thrust into the fire and molded by the flame. Though he shaped up, he was forever changed and couldn’t handle the evils of his world. Contrast, Joker’s hardening came in the jungle. Despite surviving, jokers life will never be the same due to the horrors that occurred during his time in Nam.
