Overall I’d say this movie worked! It was pretty gratuitous at some points, but Robert Eggers always delivers on a vibe. Personally would’ve loved some characters to have been fleshed out more. The 2 protagonists worked great, but it felt like a movie where everyone should’ve been at Willem Dafoe’s level of character acting. It’s scarier than I usually watch, but I love a good gothic story and this was just that. A good gothic story.
