The movie desperately wants to be a slow burn, but instead just spins its wheels for over an hour. They keep repeating this cycle where Will freaks out, the party gets awkward, then he goes and sits by himself until somebody comes and invites him back, only for him to do the same thing OVER AND OVER. Well made movie, but it’s made for an audience that shares certain conservative, traditional values that I happens to not. Good fun mystery, but the scary parts were lost on me and I found myself relating more to the islanders than the protagonist.
