maybe it's too camp for me but i don't get it... it was not enjoyable in any way, nor was it profound. the writing was ass, every character was a cardboard cutout, the plot was ridiculous and the suspension of disbelief didn't work for me this time.

The Children's Hour 1961
to rip my beating heart out of my chest would have hurt less. it's certainly dated. it's "bury your gays" trope. it's not perfect whatsoever but i still liked it. i cared for martha and karen deeply. the confession scene was definitely the strongest one in this whole movie. mary was terrifying even though she was just a little girl.
