The online movie people will lead you to believe that you are supposed to hate this if you liked the first film (which I did quite a bit) because it’s some sort of self-protest or whatever. To be honest, it looks fantastic and I thought the performances and several of the musical numbers were good, if not outstanding.
I personally think it’s mediocre because it’s pretty boring.

Hannibal 2001
All of the Florence stuff is amazing. I could have spent the whole film there this time around. I love Julianne Moore and it’s a good performance but it’s hard to buy her as the same person played by Jodie Foster in the SOTL. Hopkins is incredible. Liotta is fun as always but seems like he’s in a different movie.
This one always feels more like a horror film than a thriller like the original.

The Last Dragon 1985
There are few movies I’ve revisited more than this one. I find it to be eminently enjoyable. A lot of lesser known/unknown actors and uneven performances follow. But I love it. It’s heartfelt, funny and delivers in unexpected ways. I first saw it when I was 9-10 yrs old so it was a critical time. As a result, it’s probably one of the most important films of my life.
