A slow burn for sure. This film feels like watching a book; the scenes have some fluff and the direction of the film doesn’t really set in until an hour in. The dialogue is really inspiring, some lines had me pausing the film to write about them. More on the artsy side of the film world, but we need cinema like this to remind us of how life truly is. The DP did a phenomenal job with her shot choices…

I went into this one blind.  I absolutely loved the cinematography, and I feel like it carried a lot of the film. Every shot could be a still printed in a museum, but the story’s momentum was hard to find. The actual substance of the story is undeniably interesting, sad, and enraging, but I feel like there was a lot about the characters I was still wondering about? The loose ends were loosely tied for me. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone, with a reminder on how depressing these films can be, no matter how beautifully they’re told.

The film beautifully captured the inescapable world of Beau’s misfortune. There’s no secret that this was a film with details that reach beyond clear intention, yet the resulting ambiguity was exciting and wacky enough to keep my attention (for the most part).

The cinematography was undeniable. From the match cuts to the video-game like wide shots gave an out of body experience that shows beau fear and almost disassociating apathy that runs through his brain.

I wish the plot was a bit more tamed but this was an artistic choice that I respect. A wacky and fun watch nonetheless.

The cinematography was fun, although the lighting work was a bit obnoxious, even with it being more of the comic reference. Loved the overhead shot scene. John Wick is essentially the matrix in the matrix lol.
