  as far as short films go, if they aren’t procuring buckets of  intellectual thought within the time frame allotted, they’re a bust. for this one, though, this film utilized surrealism in a literal way to provoke the audience, which i think is an interesting and frankly underrated tactic. the acting from the main character, however, could’ve stood to be a bit more firm and compelling, but the delivery informed by the literal motif kind of excuses it. i quite literally…

  i will have to revisit this one to really dive in to the nuance and intricacies of the information presented.

  this film goes into depth about the complexities of existing within the identities of Black and gay in the 70s-80s, and presents these harsh truths with spoken word, interpolation, and other verbal storytelling tactics. although this is a short feature, the variety of concepts explored were a plate-full, leaving the viewer much to contemplate. the narrator specifically details his encounters in childhood with wonder and investigation, which led to insults that branded him with an identity that was looked down upon. the discussion of emotional repression
