Incendies 2010
One plus one, does it make one?
What a way to kick off the new year! I‘ve slept on this movie way too long. I remember reading a review that said this movie was melodramatic, so I wanted to be in the right state of mind to watch this. I couldn‘t agree less. This movie is in no way melodramatic, it‘s a dark tale, a disturbing story of freedom, overcoming anger, of survival.
I for myself didn‘t see the ending…

War for the Planet of the Apes 2017
If I could give this movie 6 stars out of 5, I would!
This is by far my favorite in the whole franchise. By now, the narrative perspective has shifted completely to the apes, with every scene being either with them or watched by them.
Many people complained about the title. While yes, there is war in this movie, the biggest part has nothing to do with the apes, at least not directly. But this is fitting, as they are…

Hannibal 2001
When I speak to you, you'll know it because I'll look at you.
Julianne Moore replacing Jodie Foster was always a hard pick. But I don’t hate on this movie like many others do. Yes, Jodie will always be the true Clarice, but Julianne does fine on her own. Her character is vastly different from the last movie, and this installment is way bloodier as well. But I don’t think it deserves the criticism it gets.
Anthony Hopkins is always…

The Silence of the Lambs 1991
Believe me, you don't want Hannibal Lecter inside your head.
How can we start with this movie? One of the most famous horror films ever (and yes, it IS a horror film) and the only horror movie so far to ever win the Oscar for Best Picture, The Silence of the Lambs is a perfectly crafted and executed horror film that is disturbing, dark and very well thought out.
What stands out in this movie is the INSANELY good acting…

Midsommar 2019
Ari Aster does it again. While this movie received more polarizing reviews, for me it‘s better than Hereditary. It‘s not as scary, but way more disturbing in my opinion.
Carried by the stunning performance of Florence Pugh, this movie doesn’t shy away from hitting you in the beginning with a disturbing scene to set the tone. You FEEL it‘s going down, you feel the emotions. Many long takes, hidden details in almost every shot, this movie tests its audience by…Translated from by -
Cube 1997
Astronomical!
1997‘s Cube is one of the very first of its kind. A suspenseful, claustrophobic horror movie, we only get glimpses of backstory, barely any character development. But that’s exactly enough to make you feel disoriented, out of place and completely lost, just like the characters.
The traps have some interesting elements. The industrial design looks awesome, and the claustrophobic feel really works well in this movie. It’s a little bloody, but not enough to make violent.
The interactions of…
