  I can’t review Moana 2 objectively. I went with two of my kids, and the first Moana was my youngest’s favorite movie when he was still in diapers. The hype was real. We pregamed with the original Moana soundtrack on the way to the theater. Which did serve to highlight the biggest let down of Moana 2: the songs were just not nearly as good as the original’s. Regardless, we had a blast.

  Movies can sometimes really distill a feeling down to its essence in a profound way and this movie does this with disappointment. Just a complete waste of potential.

  There are striking frames throughout the movie, and even some great sequences, but the inconsistency in the animation is often jarring. Unfortunately, this happens almost immediately as the movie opens. If it first happens later, maybe this would be easier over to look.
