I'm a fan of Casey Affleck, so that added to my enjoyment of this film. I thought he was very good and believable in his role. Casey's character chooses his pioneering mission to Titan over a life with Zoe, a woman he meets and who falls in love with him before his mission. Thoughts of her become the backdrop for a psychological struggle he has during his mission as his grip on reality begins to falter. I thought the ending was great, leaving me with lingering thoughts about the film - usually a sign for me that I liked what I saw.

I was a little disappointed in this film for multiple reasons. First, the main actress was cute and sweet, and played the naive teenager well, but her terrified look was often very artificial... wait for it...I need to start being scared... ok now be really scared... ok I can stop... someone else described this as Phantom of the Opera meets Shutter Island lol ...yes the cinematography was great but the overall story I thought was a little weak... how do people hear about this great place if no one ever leaves? must be the advertising... There were too many plot holes for me to recommend this film, though I've seen and sat through much worse. The very last bike scene (literally) made me chuckle and not feel completely abused by its 2 and a half hour running time.

This was one creepy film. I think the first main scene in this film will go down as one of my favorite horror scenes of all time. The way in which the director intertwined the narrative pacing with the sound and the final visuals was really impressive. I'm not a young kid anymore, but I have to admit it affected my sleep. There are a number of creepy moments in this movie making it well worth the watch. Don't let the subtitles deter you - you will truly miss out.
