A slightly more prroper movie than the 92 one but not by much. Along the same line as The Lucky Guy on the Chow meter.

All's Well, Ends Well 1992
I guess it's my fault for not watching this in the 90s. Outside of Lunar New Year, this is just a pale imitation of past Lunar New Year movies (Johnnie To's Eighth Happiness).
The Stephen Chow scenes feel like comedy sketches parodying whatever was huge at the time. And someone smarter than me could definitely write an essay on the masculinity of the Leslie Cheung character knowing what we know now. On the other hand, you get to see Maggie Cheing being a goofy comedian with Chow before becoming an international renowned ACTRESS.

Drive 1997
This is really the best possible outcome of a direct-to-video movie whether you are watching or making a film (except maybe for the director since there's a director's cut that I could not find).
Despite that, this is a film that somehow just made all the right decisions. There is nothing to feel guilty about enjoying and it is more entertaining than movies released in theatres that cost 30 times as much.
In short, it gives hope to everyone who makes and watches dtv/ lower budget movies. I'll even say it's the best movie with this title. Bravo all around.
