I did one year at a reputable theater school before 9/11. So yeah, I'm good at movies.

Is this the most overlooked masterpiece of 90s cinema? One of the most exillerating theatre going experiences of my high school years.

It all worked out for them but I always wondered about the level of panic and terror the Wachowski"s must have felt when seeing this while working on the Matrix.

How did Proyas take it when the Matrix became such a juggernaut?

They're both great movies but this film is tops I tell ya, tops!

Stunning story telling. One of the best Neo-Noirs of the decade.

Really fun and all things considered pretty straightforward Macbeth adaptation. The haunting surreal moments of the play really sing and with Tutturro getting most of the screen time, it's an easy watch.

Great cast. Kinda silly idea but c'mon - it's cool.

This is a handsome, handsome film. Perhaps Gray's best. Something about his New York run makes me feel like I would be happy if the films went on endlessly, far far longer than they should. However, Gray is a master of pacing and therefore leaves us feeling fulfilled while simultaneously wanting more. No other film maker distills the essence of the first two Godfathers as well as Gray does into his Brighton Beach crime epics. They feel like special, elegant cinema and We Own the Night is the best of them.
