The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey 2012
Does some good things adapting important scenes very well from the book. Bloated with too much lore and too much fanservice for LoTR fans.
Could have been half as long and twice as good if they cut out the fluff and kept most of what was in the book.

Only Yesterday 1991
I think this movie is a fantastic piece of work analyzing what it means to be a woman in Japan, the expectations and pressures that come with that, and coming to terms with what you want out of life.
Some call this film boring, bit I think every scene no matter how dull it might seem on the surface sheds led on societal pressures in Japan on women.
It has wonderful pacing, great dub performances and the classic Hisaishi score that sends goosebumps all across your body. This is my favorite Ghibli fiolm and you should definitely give it a go.
