  Reminded me a lot of the goofy “movies” I would make with my cousins growing up, except with an actual budget and production value. It feels very much like a home movie, but with Edgar Wright’s style and humor, I love that about it. Edgar Wright really loves film and filmmaking, and you can see his passion overflowing throughout this goofy movie. It’s very much an homage film to some of the greats of cinema.

  “Dad, you were never dying.”

   “But I'm going to live.”

  I know Gene Hackman had absolutely no interest in doing this movie and it took lots of persuasion to get him to eventually agree to do it, but I couldn’t imagine anyone else. He is Royal Tenenbaum. And for me the best part of this movie, he’s what drives all the emotional beats. I will never not be moved by that ending.
