The Big Short 2015
Amazingly directed and edited film. An educational comedy film that both teaches you important things and makes you laugh. It’s a directing masterclass and you take away a lot from the film. The camera work goes hand in hand with the editing style and it’s all beautiful crafted into The Big Short. Bale shines yet again and he honestly disappears into each role I often forget it’s him in his various roles idk how he does it but he’s the 🐐 .

The Prestige 2006
Rewatched this recently. An absolute masterclass in storytelling and direction. I believe this to be Nolan’s best directed film but I’ll have to rewatch Interstellar and update this 🤣. The atmosphere of this film is beautiful and the rivalry is unbelievable. You feel the tension you feel these 2 slowly lose their sanity and those around them for this epic match of egos. It’s unbelievably clever and there is not another film that can do it like this which is why Nolan is one of the goats.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014
Matt Reeves best film. Every single second of this film was filled with emotion and passion for filmmaking. The intro itself is just amazing and should win awards. Koba and the entire premise as a sequel couldn’t be written better and you really feel them to be alive even tho we know it’s cgi which is one of the hardest things to truly pull off. I don’t see any elements of the filmmaking being even less than 10/10. It truly is a complete film.

Incendies 2010
This was an unbelievably real and well directed film from start to finish. The reveal had me absolutely fucked and the way it was brought to it was just haunting. Denis showcases his real talents here for a smaller budget than what he receives now and still shines through like a hidden gem. The premise of the film and the reality of situations like this make it so sad and yet so well made that I just end up respecting…
