It doesn't surprise me that this film won the Berlinale. This documentary has the feel of art rather than a film. I think if I had seen it in an exhibition I would have enjoyed it a bit more.

Unfortunately, I don't see how the film could win Cannes - even if you don't think about the very competent competition. The film is okay and funny, but weak and predictable in many moments. I don't really see the point in all the sex scenes either. If I had gone in without expectations I might have found it better. at least the two main actors were great. the characters are beautifully told. but the parents...

The Boy and the Heron 2023
a sweet film with incredible images. Storywise, I would have liked a clear decision from the protagonist and not a deus ex machina at the final. The character development in the first half of the animation promises more than what was made of it in the end. A swirl that gets faster and faster, maybe a little too fast, but still fascinating. Some ideas like the man-eating cranes, the old ladies or the pelicans were thought up with a lot of love that you can feel.
