  loved this

  paced and built so well a lesser film would try to pull the same punches as this and fail due to rushed poor pacing, you'll be so in love with the family that by the time things begin going south you will be crushed. One of the first new movie I’d seen this year was close and I feel as this serves as somewhat of a foil to it? Where close fails in providing weight to its tragedy…

  made me sob and while not specifically knowing why.

  not a groundbreaking thought but there’s something so so special about the way Edward Yang captures the feeling of floundering through everyday life that just breaks my heart. yiyi is so reserved yet so poignant and rich in the way it captures the pain and uncertainty of existence, having to cope with inescapable feelings of regret and nostalgia alongside with the convergence of two in acceptance.
