  This movie played with the "black dies first" cliche very hard and the black woman was the only one with enough sense to disobey goth girls slendy desires.

  I would consider this movie to be okay if it were not a sequel to one of the most acclaimed psychological horrors of all time. The original movie, the Shining, was about a man slowly falling insane and watching him, and what he perceives of the world, gradually fall apart. However, this sequel is about vampire people who hunt Shiners so that they can inhale their soul. I get that it's independent to the Shining but I expected some sort of similarity. Overall, this movie seems less like a Shining successor and more like a passing-the-torch, vampire cannibal infested teen drama by Netflix.
